Knoebel's & Surrounding Area.....

We are trying to plan next summer's trip and I have an idea I wanted to run by everyone. My parents have a camper and they are mid 60's and I usually sleep on the air mattress if I go with them. My brother and sister-in-law are 40 and have a camper with two boys 7 & 5. All of us would go together in the campers. My sister and brother-in-law are 43 with a girl 11 and boys 6 & 4. They do not have a camper so if they vacation with us they'd need a rental cabin or similar. I was looking at Lake Glory campground with the full hookups as it's part of Knoebel's.

My idea is to go in early August since NASCAR is in Pocono which looks to be jut over an hour from the campground. Herhsey Park looks to be about 80 minutes from the campground and Dutch Wonderland looks to be just under 2 hours from the campground. There's also Knoebel's itself.

Does it seem feasible to hit all of this in one week? Is there anything else I should look at in the area?

J&D Campground was a little expensive, but no pool.

Ependydad , look around a little better at J&D they do have a small pool but goofy hours :) Just left Circle M went to Knoebels then heading to Timothy Lake south, maybe one more time at Circle M before they close for the winter, how about you?

I'd also want to switch campgrounds to somewhere closer to Hershey and Dutch Wonderland.
  • We've been to Knoebel's & Hershey during mid summer, though Hershey had the bigger ticket rides we found it absolutely packed where we were waiting for over an hour to 1 1/2 hrs for their rides (and this was during the weekday) just wasn't a fun experience.

Knoebel's seemed more family style, place was clean, wasn't a zoo and the rides were very enjoyable.

Check out the reviews on Knoebel's campground. Campground has lots of rental cabins too.

  • The Hershey factory tour and museum are on opposite sides with ZooAmerica in between. These are mostly seperated from but adjacent to the park itself. It can be done in a couple hours or take all day. Depends on your style.
  • I was more interested in the chocolate making part of Hershey due to the desire for the other amusement parks Knoebels and Dutch Wonderland. Any idea how long the chocolate making part of Hershey might take?

Lake Glory is somewhat midway between Hershey/Dutch Wonderland and Pocono Raceway.

What else is in the area? When we went to Lake George RV Park this past summer we went to Howe Cavarans. We'd be looking at that kind of attraction and perhaps a little fishing too.
  • Recently stayed at Lake Glory and am going back in a couple weeks for halloween festivities at Kneobels. The campground is not a resort but fits the bill very well, with fishing on site and a shuttle that takes you to and from the park many times a day. I agree that if you are wanting to visit Hershey area, simply move to a campground near there.
  • Yes it's feasible but you might get amusement parked out, there is also the Ashland Mine tour near Knoebels. I would move to another campground if you wanted to do Hershey or Dutch Wonderland plus there is plenty in both those areas to do.
