KOA

I'd sure like to find nice RV parks under $75 in popular areas of California!!
RV parks such as Chula Vista in San Diego, Pechenga in Temecula, Vines in Paso Robles are all $75 to over $100 during peak periods. The parks that are under $50 are almost all VERY low end dirty dumps.

When I hear people complain about rates over $50 I realize the area I RV in is EXPENSIVE! But, I can RV 365 days a year and never put my rig away for the winter.

I did a lot of pre planning FYI it was the closest to my high schools class mates home. Believe me it wasn't my first choice but I didn't want to drive 10 or 12 miles in Seattle traffic

Your profile says you are from AZ and you are concerned about a 10-12 mile drive? Please!!

We stayed in Gig Harbor a couple years ago and it would have been about a 35 min. drive to the Kent area which is nothing.

Again sorry you made a bad choice...maybe next time.

We use KOA's on occasion when nothing better available but we know ahead of time what we are getting.

No I didn't but I was tired and I can afford it for 1 night, I just don't like to get ripped off. That is the highest price I have ever paid in 50 years of camping! To each his own but I think it is too high when you can stay in a beautiful area like the Black hills for less with just as many amenities as this! I just want people to know what to expect here. The park is nice although the interstate is near and the noise is noticeable, the people are nice but it just seems unreasonable to me (but I am old!) :W

I hear ya brother! But it's a sign of the times. Come to California; lots of campgrounds over 60-70 bucks a night. Heck, we just booked a site up by the Grand Tetons and it's over $70 a night!! Private campgrounds can get very pricey.

I have stayed there for months at a time while visiting my son in Kent
Not a dump but sites are tight, nice people it LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION - not many choices in the Seattle area

Me calling it dump is nice compared what my wife said. Cigarette butt every where and chunks of Styrofoam and pieces of paper town or clean x on our site. Tight is an under statement

I have stayed at many KOAs, never regretted it,,

We never stay at any campground that has an RV Park Reviews rating lower than 7.5. Just make sure there are more than 2 reviews. One would be the owner and the other would be the nearest competitor.

Like any other RV park, some KOA's are great, others are horrible. I really don't see any reason to make any type of blanket statement about as a whole.

San Diego KOA is a well run, very nice maintained RV park. Lost Hills, CA KOA is a big dirt lot with hookups. Ones great, ones not!
