Haven't stayed in too may KOA's actually the only one I can think of is the one that's in Townsend TN. We usually try to stay in State parks cause we like the nature part of them but we are planning our longest trip yet up to Yellowstone next May and will need some RV parks just for the night. I was wondering how your experience has been with them. I see that they can get pricey which is a downer but other than that they look decent. Can you elaborate on your experiences? Thank You
Tried it once, ended up leaving before setting up. We don't use them don't like them....to crowded, spots to tight.
This is our experience as well.
We are in one right now, but pretty much use it as a hotel with our camper. Not a pleasant camping type experience. Very little room between you and neighbors on either side. Who wants to sit at a picnic table right next to the sewer hose of the adjacent neighbor? And then have a tire rim for a fire grate? I would actually worry about scorching the neighbor's trailer if I lit a fire.
We've stayed at two KOA's now, one in Cody WY when we just wanted to overnight to see more of Cody the next day. It was OK for that, but it was just really a gravel parking lot. The one we are at now is nice with trees over each campsite, but it is still not our idea of camping. But this one is close to the city we are visiting and it works as a cheap hotel. We prefer state parks and national forest campgrounds. We have never stayed at an RV park but from what I've seen in driving through some of them, I wouldn't want to stay there either.
