Lake Bistineau State Park or Beaver Dam Campground

In November we plan on taking a trip around Louisiana. We will start at Poverty Point in Delhi and then move over to one of the following campgrounds. After that we will head to North Toledo Bend Campground and then over to Natchez heading back home.

Which one would ya'll recommend?

  • We have stayed at Cypress Black Bayou just out of Bossier City...Haven't been in a couple of years, but we liked it. Its on a lake and we had a shady campsite.
  • Diamond Jacks Casino in Bossier City has a campground. It is small but nice. I never have stayed there.

This is where we planned on staying. I do not have Passport of America.

I haven't stayed here (too close to home) but the web site looks good:

    Tall Pines RV

There are several campgrounds between Greenwood, LA and Shreveport.

    Also this one in Minden:

Tall Pines will be my choice if neither of the State Parks work.

  • Honest opinions are what I want. I am wanting something close to Shreveport to go visit kinfolk.

    Thanks!!!
  • JMHO, I would stay away from Lake Bistineau State Park. The lake is covered with the giant salvania and is not pretty like it used to be. The last time we were at the state park the bugs were terrible. Could not sit out at night because of them. I like state parks, but Bistineau is way down on my list. On the other hand, Poverty Point is a great place. Lake Claiborne is another nice park. Happy camping....
