Lake Elsinore Area

Has anyone done any boondocking in the Lake Elsinore area. We are passing through, probably just a one or two nighter and hoping to just boondock/dry dock in the area. Thoughts?

  • One other one I thought of is Lake Skinner also Passport America Riverside County Park. Very reasonable full hookups available if you want to power air conditioner. Lake Elsinore Marina is also listed Passport America for 2 nights @ $22.00 per night. I haven't been there for a few years, used to launch boat there occasionally. Was ragged around the edges then but didn't get seriously spooky vibe at that time..
  • Thanks for that info. We are from AZ so hot to us is 115 during the day cooling off to 110 at night. ha ha. but I will check into those areas.
  • I'm not aware of free camping in the area. The Blue Jay NFS campground in nearby Cleveland national forest is decent at right time of year. It is at 3600 ft. elevation summer generally not best time due to daytime heat and flies/gnats. Also subject to partying on wknds. It really is quite pretty up there much of the year, big oak trees and green meadow in season.

There is also camping at Wildomar OHV area. If you're just looking for a bargain Pechanga RV park on Passport America (Temecula) is a deal Sunday thru Wed nights. Free overnight in one of their parking lots. These areas get quite hot in the summer and AC is a plus. Temecula is an area where the night tends to cool off.
