Lakewood in Myrtle Beach (Shade no wind vs Sun with wind)

Okay, we have been to Lakewood a million times but during winter stayed in open sunny site and in the shoulder seasons (April, May, Sept, and Oct) it really has not been that hot but we tended to stay on Shaded site. So we are now thinking about going in July. For all those with Lakewood experience. Do we go for Shaded site which tend to have VERY little wind, or do we go for sunny site closer to the ocean and hope for good winds? We have little ones (3 and 5) so we are leaning towards shade and big fan. Any experiences or advice would be good. How likely or strong of a wind can we really expect up front ocean sites with it being that busy during that time of year.

Thanks
Jon

  • In truth the site out on the beach in the sun are cooler in the summer. Especially if you get a site facing the ocean. Then you will be in the shade of you RV, and awning from noon to dark.

We were in the trees once, and they nearly cooked us. The breeze out in the beach sites keep you so much cooler. And we also kept a fan running under the awning. Another way to be cooler is to get a sandy site. The paved sites are 10+ degrees hotter, and don't cool at night like the dirt / sandy sites do.
