Leaving house with septic system over winter
A question for those who live on acreages with septic system in Cold Areas.... We are just going to move onto an acreage and am wondering if my system will freeze up. My son will be staying there...

I would forget looking for answers on this forum. Talk to a local plumber and have him turn off the water and blow the lines out. If you have a burglar alarm system they can install a low heat sensor and should your furnace quit the alarm company will contact your key holders. You should contact your insurance company and see if they require someone to check your house on a regular basis.

Well this sort of illustrates the quality of advice. They completely missed. "My son will be staying there". He won't be very happy if you turn off the heat and the water.
Talk to the neighbours, throw around some straw.
