Three thoughts on the issue...
1. For those who think the choice is being next to dope smokers vs. drinkers, I suggest that is a false choice. As one who has been teaching 17-21 year-olds for over thirteen years, they smoke and drink AT THE SAME TIME. Frequently. It is a common practice for young people to do this; maybe older users do the same, but I don't know any older drug users that admit to it.
2. From news reports I have seen, the cost of legal weed is significantly higher than the current street price. It would be naive to think legalization will drive street dealers out of business or legitimize them. The black market will endure because it is cheaper than the legal stuff, and high schoolers/middle schoolers will keep the up demand for illegal pot since it will still be illegal for them to buy.
3. I don't care what the campers in the next site do as long as they don't involve me. I already despise the smell of cigarettes no matter what's in them and I don't care to hear my neighbor's music or parties in campgounds, period. In short, I don't plan to change my vacation plans, complain to management, or leave campgrounds unless those things occur (it's been rare so far).
