DW and I will be in NY the weekend of Oct 11 and would like to make one more stop on the way home with a last stop for a few days starting Oct 13. I've read about Letchworth SP and was just curious about the campsites. I had seen one or two comments about tightness getting around the campsites. Aren't too many sites available due to the season, but site 345 is available and if the general consensus is that the park is well worth it and the CG area like most others, then I'll jump at it. Appreciate any feedback offered.

We were there last summer, our number was in the 200s but no problem with getting my 29' around. Lot was ok size, the scenery is breathtaking, just expect to do a lot of driving or long walks

Never camped in Letchworth SP, but it is known as the Grand Canyon of the East. It is one of the most spectacular state parks in New York for scenery.

Just stayed there recently. I enjoyed the stay. If using a GPS know that most of them (in our case four of them) will lead you to the main entrance which is quite a away from the campground entrance.

Recently visited the area for a week. Didn't stay at the park due to lack of sewer and length of stay. We stayed at the Jellystone park in North Java. About a half hour away. Which is not much longer than it will take you to drive from the north end of the park where the campground is to the south end where the water falls are. Lots of wind mills it that area but not much else. Still can't figure out where all those kids staying at the Jellystone park came from. lol

I've stayed in the park a number of times. If you need electric, check the site you choose carefully - some are 50 amp, some 30 & some only 15. Also, pets are only allowed in the 100's, 200's, and 700's numbered sites.Be sure to drive to the other end of the park to see the waterfalls:

Most women and some men pass by Letchworth because they don't know how to handle their rigs. But yours won't ne the first 37 footer in there. You will survive. It's a beautiful park.

Dam tour was great! Any tips on driving 40' Motorhome through the park. Heard there was bus parking right after the museum, but didn't know which entrance best...Castile? Anyone drive a big rig through the park? Heard big rigs should avoid Portage rd on south end. Suggestions? Coming up from Houghton, NY. Thanks!

Letchworth is nice.
Watkins Glen State Park is also nice...only one loop with electric...have to watch that in NY.

The dam in Mount Morris has a visitor center and offers tours inside the dam. It's pretty cool! And free!

Take a short drive down to Stony Brook State Park near Dansville. They have a nice gorge walk and one of the neatest swimming areas you have ever seen. Water temp is cold but that is part of the fun!

Thanks all for your feedback. I made the reservation last night and am really looking forward to the visit. For sure we will be all over the park, but if anyone has any tips for day-trip areas outside of the park as well, that would be great. Doesn't have to be anything extravagant... small towns, scenic areas, nice drives, whatever. Thanks again.

Our Family loves Letchworth State Park.
I would say make the reservation and give it a try.
