Hi Bob. I'm just up the road a piece from you. I'm not real sure, but the wife and I stayed at a Louis & Clark SP up that way. It seems they name a lot of places after the explorers. Anyway I just wanted to let you know about our stay. The park looked nice but when I went to set up, I noticed a lot of droppings on the ground and said to the wife, but careful where you step as apparently people don't pick up after their animals. It was shortly after that when I discovered what I thought was from dogs turned out to be from big Canadian geese. they have a real problem and thought I would mention it. Maybe someone can confirm whether I have the right park. Enjoy your trip. BTW it can get toasty up there in July. It was in the ninetys when we were there mid July.
I am wondering if you are thinking of Missouri Headwaters State Park which is close to Lewis and Clark Caverns State Park. I have stayed at Headwaters and had the same experience but over at Lewis and Clark Caverns have not had that problem. Both can be hot depending on when you visit.
