You haven't missed anything. Leisure Lakes is your best bet easy drive but I355 is a tollroad IPASS or EasyPass accepted.
We're now fulltimers from Chicago area and often return for weddings and such find it easier to leave the RV at a park like Leisure Lakes and just get a hotel room near the event for the night. We do have friends in the area that will dogsit for a night.
