The laws and rules currently in place need to be enforced. They takes money. The money is not there. We are down to closing certain areas off and/or volunteer organizations working with the governing body of each land, to help keep the rules enforced and the land cleaned up.
Following is my opinion -
As long as the majority (it might be an electoral college majority) of voting Americans continue to not want to pay taxes which they feel are helping others and not themselves, the money won't be there. Proposed tax cuts at the Federal level will only make this situation worse. We can't have it both ways - "Free" boondocking sites on Federal land for the few of us that enjoy that, and no money to pay for the enforcement of the rules and laws that are in place to control those "free" camping sites.
