Looking for a new destination advice

Hello,

My wife and I are looking to plan our early summer (June) trip. We have always gone to Myrtle Beach and stayed at Willow Tree RV Resort. We really like this park but she asked if there was someplace different that we might try.

Some information about us
We live 20 miles south of Pittsburgh PA
Travel towing a 31 foot 5th wheel
We have three Cocker Spaniels that travel with us.

When going to Myrtle we would leave around 3pm travel to around 11pm or so and then stop at a rest area sleep for awhile and then complete the trip. I would like to keep travel down to two days if at all possible

We prefer quieter campgrounds that have a pool allow pets and some space between units. We do not like campgrounds like the beachfront campgrounds in Myrtle. They are too large and crowded for us.

A place to walk our dogs

We do not spend a lot of time directly on the beach when in myrtle but enjoy the other attractions there.

I thought I would post here to get other opinions / options on where we might go and do this June.

Thanks in advance for your help!

Dave

I forgot to mention that I suffered heart attacks and two strokes. I am stable now but walking hills can bring on chest discomfort

Could always try the mountains. The NC high country, and the Gatlinburg TNN area have every thing MB has. Just no ocean., and it will be cooler, at least in the High country.

We stayed in Sierville (sp?) about 10 years ago with my daughters. We enjoyed Dollywood and the water park as well as touring Gatlinburg.

One thing I forgot to mention is that I suffered several heart attacks and two strokes so my mobility is somewhat impacted. I can handle flat ground okay but hills sometimes bring on chest discomfort.

    Thank you!

This looked like a really nice park but they have a two pet limit. I have three cocker spaniels that travel with us.
  • We were at the Camping show this past fall in Hershey Pa, and was struck by a new destination for us this summer. Its called CreekFire Rv. Ranch. Its located in Savanna Ga. The reps. said they are only about 20 min. to downtown Savanna, their website looks good, and they were sincere in answering our questions etc. We plan on going this summer. We figure it being new its worth checking out. Good Luck and Happy Camping !!
  • In the same area is Carrollwoods Campground.
My favoriate is Daddy Joe's in Tabor City, NC. Still not to far of a drive to Myrtle Beach, and Calabash, NC. I do hope you visit Calabash, the seafood capital of the Carolina's.
  • We really like the mountains. Tenn., NC, and north Ga are really good places for enjoying the mountains. However, if you want the beach, try the Outer Banks of NC. We have been there and really enjoy it. We are coming your way in June. We want to visit Shanksville, Pa.
