Looking for affordable rv parking in San Fransisco area

Two words that don't belong together is 'affordable' and 'San Fransisco'. :B

All things considered the rates are much higher in California in general and even higher any where's near the cities. Staying in a CG in California is not going to be a less expensive route for you.

Search Mobile home parks too. Some have allotted spaces for RV's and might be cheaper than a tourist CG. Sadly I think the rental in town IS going to be your less expensive way to pull this off.
