The North Carolina Fairgrounds you mentioned--those sites have electric hookups. Did you boondock there and were prohibited from running a generator?
At Bridge Bay, generator hours are 8am - 8pm, which is more or less the same as quiet hours. And I've stayed at Oregon Inlet and my recollection is that it was the same thing--generators not allowed during quiet hours.
I'm trying to find campgrounds that have greater restrictions on generators than those. Like the rule in all Vermont state parks mentioned above, which limits them to 2 hours in the morning and 2 hours in the afternoon.
