I recommend going down to South Padre Island. I have vacationed down there a lot. There are several RV parks on the island. While the RV parks don't offer a lot of activities, the hotels do and they are open to everyone not just their hotel guests. You can go parasailing, banana boats, rent boogie boards and go horseback riding on the beach. You can also rent dune buggies to go to uninhabited beaches. Also, you can book tours down to Mexico to explore their market places.
There are numerous deep sea and bay fishing boats, gift shops and restaurants on the island.
