If there is a Social Worker at the treatment center, see if they are connected with the St. James Inn. This Catholic ministry offers free housing in two private homes that they own specifically for families whose loved ones are being treated at local hospitals.We used them a number of times when our daughter was at UCLA.
Google St. James Inn in Westwood. You have to have a referral from a Social Worker to use the Inn.
Also, you can "meet" me on the website in their promotional video.

As one that lives in the area, I can tell you that the closest, reliable park with the easiest access to Beverly Hills is Valencia Travel Village. Stay completely away from Florence/ Bell for lots of reasons. They ALL have traffic issues getting to BH in the morning, but Long Beach and Malibu will completely suck. Long Beach is simply too far and can easily take twice the time, and if ANYTHING goes wrong on the coast, there are few alternatives. Nor is it conveniently located. It's just a nice place to hang.

There is one other slightly closer in the Van Nuys area that I know little about except its on the west arrival and departure of helicopter traffic to VNY.

Valencia to BH has the 405' and several canyon roads that drop into the area. By far the easiest access of the bunch. I take that freeway from Valencia past Beverly Hills exits daily and know the patterns all too well

There is not an RV park that isn't at least a two hour drive to Beverly Hills during "rush hour". The freeways - are "free flowing" (more or less) from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. But there are no guarantees. The times "WoodGlue" quoted in his posts are NOT DURING RUSH HOUR.

I would stay at a hotel nearby if there is any way you could afford it.

I lived there 50 plus years and was an outside salesperson who drove these roads for 30 years until I retired.

The Bell/Florence area is not a place you want to be. There is a good chance Dockweiler and the Long Beach RV park will be full.

With the stress of concern about your son, I would suggest that this might be a good time to just motel it, somewhere with free breakfast, that is close to the medical facilities. Then, you can relax between visits without concern about how to get to where you need to be.

Since it is for your son see if there is a Ronald McDonald house at a nearby hospital they may accommodate you. Dockweiler beach is lovely, but noisy as you are in LAX flight pattern

Chances are that medical treatment means getting there very early in the morning. The drive isn't that bad in the early AM.

you should come back and recalibrate your clock, because a 2 hr drive is the exception these days by at least 25%

If the treatment is at Cedars, stay in a motel as close to it as you can -- the traffic in that area is notorious. If it's at UCLA, that is a little better, but not much.

When you look on a map, the distances in LA do not look very large. Don't be deceived. The time expended getting from one place to another can be amazing.

I don't know what a Discovery is, but if it's a Class B or C, you can call and ask if you can stay in the Hospital parking lot. If it's an A, I'd still call just in case. Again, it depends on what hospital you are talking about.

BTW, I just recently moved to AZ after living 35 years in Hermosa Beach on the west side of L.A. While it's worth a shot, a nearby hotel may be cheaper.

Dockweiler Beach RV park, in Playa del Rey, may be the closest with the easiest freeway access, but finding a surface street route is often much quicker. Plus, Dockweiler is right under the departure end of LAX and across the road from the sewage treatment plant.
