It used to be that when you sent a physical check the account number it was deposited to was MICRed at the bottom next to your account number.
You then had the depositors account number.
I used that against my ex-wife as I wanted to grab the money she owed me out of her account. My lawyer sent her a small check stating "it had to do with the divorce proceedings". When she cashed it he had the account number to put a lien on.
