I sent a check to Sirius/XM because I didn't want them to have my CC number for "automatic" renewal.
They "cashed" the check using an ACH transaction.
I'm pretty sure they could have done that in any amount they pleased......and still can......given my routing number and account number that appears on the check.
Actually, Vulcan Rider is wrong and Westernparkowner is right.
With Vulcan Rider, he mailed Sirius/XM a check, so they had his account and routing numbers. Many places turn a check into a ACH ddebit. Happens all the time.
What Westernparkowner is saying if you deposit a check into your account, the person who wrote that check does not then have your account and routing numbers.
