I thought I read somewhere that the America The Beautiful pass was honored at Louisana state parks as well as Corp of Engineers parks..anyone know if that is true?

LA is one of four states whose state parks honor the pass for a discount on over night camping. Those states are Arkansas, Delaware, Louisiana and Maryland. If you are a resident of one of those states - you are eligible for a discount at Louisiana state parks. Your drivers license will be checked. If your drivers license: vehicle tags are from any of the other 46 states, no camping discount.

Look at the FAQ on discounts
  • I'm just not feeling it. State parks are positioning themselves at Cadillac (or at least Buick) prices while being deficient in services. We rarely go to them any more.

For example, I'm in a FHU park in central Florida on the Withlacoochee River with big lots etc for the monthly rate of $325/mo plus electric, or $13.33 per day assuming $75 electric. The only reason I'd go to the state park up the river, sad to say, is just for a weekend or so. $30/nt plus tax plus $6.70 reservation fee is absurd. And there's no weekly or monthly price.

Looks pretty reasonable to me compared to Colorado.

I don't know...$33/night on weekends all year when it was $20/night off season seems like a big increase. Colorado looks to have similar pricing to the new rates unless I'm misreading the website. Just wanted to let people know in case they wanted to get in at old rates before the cut-over.
  • Actually, I think, overall, Louisiana prices are better than Indiana, and we've not had a price jump in a couple years either! Click here.

In addition, just to enter the park (per automobile), there is a $7 fee for Indiana Residence, and $9 fee for non-residence ... JUST to get INTO the park! Click here too!
