Most Private campgrounds using online reservation systems absorb the fee for the system, then pass it on in a buck or two higher nightly rates. By the time you get to longer term rates, it becomes a minor cost in either private or public camps.
An online reservation system has upfront static costs, no matter who operates it. to factor in that cost for a short term stay, say a one to three nighter, versus a longer term visitor penalizes the longer term visitor to subsidize the short term.
