Weather across Louisiana, southern Mississippi, southern Alabama tends to be disappointing those months if the reason for going south is warmth and sunshine. Depends on what you are looking for, winter in the region somewhat resembles summers in cool, wet northern coastal areas like Iceland, coastal Alaska, but without benefit of very long days. Those who do winter in the region tend to prefer places right on the coast, Florida Panhandle west to Gulfport.
