We stopped in Vicksburg going from New Orleans to Memphis. The Battlefield is impressive, I wish we had had more time to tour, plus the weather was not cooperating on our visit.
We stayed at Rivertown Campground, right on hwy 61 just south of town. We were late arriving and it was pouring rain. The neighbors were helpful and the park owners very nice.
We stopped at the Onward Store on the highway on the way north to Vicksburg. Good tamales.
