Looking for a campground between Loveland and Estes Park for 1 night. I noticed several County campgrounds in the Carter Lake Area. I will be arriving midweek in early August. Will be camping in a small 17' trailer. Because of schedule uncertainty I would prefer not to make reservations.
Any suggestionsAny suggestions?
Yes. There are nearly a dozen places to stay in the area, including the ones you mentioned at Carter Lake, as well as at Horsetooth Reservoir outside Ft Collins.

Since your arriving mid-week, you likely won't have problems finding a place to stay. I would highly recommend Boyd Lake State Park (which is practically in my back yard!)on the east side of Loveland or Riverview RV Resort west of Loveland on US 34 heading to Estes Park. There's also the Carter Valley Campground just off US 34 in the same area as Riverview. These 3 represent the best of what's in the area. Boyd Lake has electric only, Riverview and Carter Valley have FHU.
All the other commercial campgrounds in the area have seen better days, and most at this time of year are close to fully booked with long term visitors. There may be some space available for a single overnight in mid-week.
