Looking for a campground between Loveland and Estes Park for 1 night. I noticed several County campgrounds in the Carter Lake Area. I will be arriving midweek in early August. Will be camping in a small 17' trailer. Because of schedule uncertainty I would prefer not to make reservations.Any suggestions?

About the only RV Park in Loveland is the Loveland RV Park. We stayed there last year. It met our needs with lots of trees and shade but some of the sites are pretty tight; our neighbors could watch our TV when our blinds were open. But we were only there to sleep so the blinds remained closed! The staff were all helpful and friendly. We did make reservations but not sure we needed them. This year we are staying in St.Vrain State Park which is right off I-25 in Longmont. It's about 25 min drive from there to Loveland.Forgot to add: St Vrain is large park and does have FHU if needed.

We stayed at the Loveland RV resort last year. It was decent, bathrooms/showers were at best average, but a lot of the lots are long-term, so it seemed a little more run-down than most. Would not stay there again.Johnsons Corner RV resort is really nice, and they have cinammon rolls. Only reason we stayed at the Loveland RV resort is because the Johnsons Corner was full.

There are nearly a dozen places to stay in the area, including the ones you mentioned at Carter Lake, as well as at Horsetooth Reservoir outside Ft Collins.H E R E - RV Park Reviews is the link to rvparkreviews.com to give you an over view of the places available in the Loveland/Berthoud area. Since your arriving mid-week, you likely won't have problems finding a place to stay. I would highly recommend Boyd Lake State Park (which is practically in my back yard!)on the east side of Loveland or Riverview RV Resort west of Loveland on US 34 heading to Estes Park. There's also the Carter Valley Campground just off US 34 in the same area as Riverview. These 3 represent the best of what's in the area. Boyd Lake has electric only, Riverview and Carter Valley have FHU.All the other commercial campgrounds in the area have seen better days, and most at this time of year are close to fully booked with long term visitors. There may be some space available for a single overnight in mid-week.

Boyd Lake State Park in Loveland is your best bet.
