Lucked Out

We bought a new TT in July. We have been able to use it three times so far. For Thanksgiving we were planning on camping at St. George Island in North Florida. It's one of my favorite places. My parents are also going to camp with us in our camper (I'm happy about that). So, I made my reservations months ago. The other day I decided to clean out my Yahoo inbox and reviewed my reservation. To my utter shock I made the reservation for the wrong week. Starting on Wednesday, 11/20 rather than Wednesday, 11/27. And of course, everything is booked. I can't believe how quickly state parks fill up. So, I have been frantically checking the state website for any cancellations. Luckily, today there was a cancellation and the size of the site met our length needs. Lesson learned here - double and triple check dates.

  • THANKS! This looks like a place for us to visit. I have been wanting a state park to hit in that area. Now I know. Great info for me. appreciate it.

Can you walk to the beach from the campground at this state park?

Yes - It is about a 5 - 10 minute walk. Absolutely beautiful park. Lots of paved roads for bike riding - that are scenic of the beach. Can also bike ride for free or drive for a fee to the tip of St. George Island for a picnic or shore fishing.
  • Yeah, you did get lucky! Glad it worked out. Now go play the lottery! :)
  • You might have been using the official Yellowstone National Park calendar we purchased in Yellowstone last Fall. Thanksgiving is labeled as being on Nov. 21 instead of the 28th! Oops!

We LOVE St. George Island! We always spend two weeks at a time there. Have a great Thanksgiving!
