Luxury CG in Plano TX

Looking at a position in Plano that would require me to get down there and get to work prior to a full relo....they want me to be in the office every other week.

So, I'm thinking of bringing the RV down there and parking it semi-long term. So I would live in it for a week, then it would be empty for a week, then back the next week, etc. Ideally I'd like a CG with good security and someplace I could relax.

I don't mean to sound snobbish with the "luxury" tag but I'll be suit/tie when I leave for work and like someplace where I don't have to worry about the camper when I'm gone for a week at a time. Would look to pay the CG 6 months in advance for the site.

Employer is fully willing to pay for a hotel and cover all expenses, but honestly I would rather relax in my rig and get some exercise around the CG.

Any recommendations appreciated.

Thanks for the info, the office seems to be on the West side of Plano. Google says 45 mins from Vineyards in Grapevine to the office.

Anybody know about Sandy Lake in Carrolton?
1000 times "NO" It is basically an amusement park and the customers will never be confused with Mouseketeers.

Sandy Lake RV Park is a mobile home village across the road from Sandy Lake Amusement Park. Once full of mobile homes, it is now mostly long term workers in 5th wheels and travel trailers. Though I see it has become part of Carefree Resorts.

I guess I'm old because I remember Buffalo Park Speedway just past the trailer park on Sandy Lake Road.

If you are in the west side of Plano near JC Penny, the old EDS complex, YUM Brands, etc - taking Hwy 121 up from Grapevine might be okay. Not a bad commute.

Destiny Resort in Corinth/ Denton would be closer, but you have to deal with traffic crossing Lake Lewisville on I-35. Most of the time acceptable, but very easy to be jammed for hours by a small accident.

Some place else you might check on is Hidden Cove RV Park/ Marina on the east side of Lake Lewisville. A former COE park now run by a concessionaire. (972) 294-1443

I've not stayed there, but it seems fairly decent.

    ..........

If your office is on the west side of Plano and anywhere hwy 121 toll road it should be considerably less than 45 min. The Vineyards is just off of 121 on the northeast side of Grapevine. It is about 20 hi speed miles on 121 from Preston Rd in northwest Plano to The Vineyards with only the last couple miles not on 121. Even in rush hour 121 moves fast.

Closest park to Plano that is even partially livable would be the Lighthouse RV Park in Melissa, but you will have mega traffic on 75 every day. I agree with some of the others, skip the RV for this one.

  • And Plano has an abundance of decent Residence Inn type suites catering to the huge number of tech jobs in the area. You could get something minutes away if not walking distance to work.
  • As the others have said - really nothing near Plano.

My daughter and grandkids live there. Son and grandkids in Wylie. We lived in Wylie for several years. Unfortunately the unattractive East Fork COE park at Lake Lavon is the best in the area all year.

Summer months we go to Clear Lake on the north shore of the lake in Princeton.

There is a fairly nice looking RV park in US-75 north of McKinney - Texas Star Resort. There are four private campgrounds on the west side of Lake Lavon near Lucas - none have impressed me enough to even check rates and facilities.

Destiny RV Resort in Corinth on I-35 north of Lake Lewisville is very nice. On par with the Vineyard in Grapevine. But the commute from either would be awful.

Don't look at anything which would require traveling on US-380 between Denton and McKinney. Horrible traffic and a thousand stop lights.
  • Suggest you take them up on the hotel offer and then spend an off week scouting out the area. Plano has one full time campground on a noisy freeway (Spring Creek RV Park). Nothing about that place could be confused with the word luxury. There is another one in Wylie at Lake Lavon but sadly stil not luxury. You can find a luxury campground in Grapevine but your commute will be at least 45mins.
  • There are no luxury campgrounds in/near Plano. Or even any very nice ones. The nearest thing that might meet your wants is The Vineyards Campground in Grapevine, TX. If your work in on the far west side of Plano, that would actually not be too far. I have not stayed there, but it gets very good reviews and web site looks pretty nice.
