The wife and I are considering this area for next July. Any recommendations on campgrounds in the area. Full hookups are nice to have however electric and water are fine as long as a dump station is available. Creekside site would also be nice and pet friendly. We have 32 foot travel trailer pulling with a F-250. We are looking for somewhere for a base camp to go and see the water falls and the land. We are good Sams members also thanks in advance. Would like to find one that is not a parking lot type place a little space between sites is nice. I have read reviews online and would like to have some advice from the knowledgeable people on here thanks in advance

Google Creekwood Farms-Waynesville, which is a couple miles from Maggie Valley. We have been staying here several times a year for over ten years. Very nice creekside spaces as well as non-creekside spaces. You want be disappointed.

Creekwood Farms and Pride resort are right next to each other. Both are good clean parks with the creek running by some sites. Haven't been to any other parks in the area so can't offer an opinion on those.

If you went on the other side of the mountain range in the Gatlinburg/Smokey Mtn Natl Park area they have a couple of nice waterfalls you can hike to. Also have several hiking trails... We always camp at ELKMONT camp that only has water available from a spigot outside each of the bath room buildings... When we camp at ELKMONT we always go to the Townsend town for supplies and groceries etc... Galtlinburg and Pigeon Forge is always a pretty hetic town with lots of traffic...They do have a RV dump site at the entrance to the Smokey Natl Park.Crossing the mtn from Cherokee might be abit much for the longer trailers. We don't have any problems doing the mtn road with our Popup trailer...Roy Ken

We’ve stayed several times at Creekwood Farms and will again anytime we’re in the area. Well-run place, scenic creek sites, very nice bathrooms, etc.The nearby town of Waynesville is fun for strolling and has some nice restaurants and shops.
