I have reservations for a couple of sites inside Mather this summer.I have never stayed inside the park, and do not know anything about the sites that we had available to select for our 34' fiver. Does anyone have information, or especially pictures for site #172 and site #185.Much thanks for any and all help.

Parks and cgs often share identical names.

Mather is in Grand Canyon South Rim.

I have a 34' Fifth Wheel and the campground description says that both site 172 and 185 are for fifth wheel ONLY. I have looked at the maps provided, but it is hard to tell just how sharp the turnout is. I do know from the map that the door will be on the proper side of the campground space. I am also aware that NO hookups are provided. Actually prefer this type of camping.
was just hoping someone took pictures when they camped there and could share some views of the actual sites.

We were there in May with our 26' TT. We had one of the pull thru's that put out door in the road instead of facing the campsite. that was a pain. The pull thru's are really tight, I had a little problem with my 26' er.
You may be able to get it in but it will probably be a challenge. Can you get a spot at the other campground Trailer Village.

The radius of some of the pullthrus is too tight. I've had to back in, unhook, and put TV behind TT. A lot of Park & FS campgrounds were laid out when RVs were smaller.

When I was there a few years ago 2010(?), they had changed the roads in and out of the campground so that my GPS could not find the campground. Lots of new roads in the park.

No problem parking my 33 foot Travel Trailer once I found the campground. Do not speed in the park. The speed limit is strictly enforced. Do not ask how I know. . . . :M

Read the fine print for each campsite. The GC, both North and South rim campgrounds, are one way driving only. Half the sites will have your door on the road side. The description will alert you to this if you look closely.

Access fee into Grand Canyou is $25 per vehicle, and is good for one week. America the Beautiful senior pass is $10 one time, and is good for the rest of your life. Immediate $15 savings!

Mather is inside the Grand Canyon National Park. If you are over 62 and do not have the America the Beautiful Pass, you will have to pay an access fee, which usually is good for a week. If you are over 62 and do not have the pass, you really need to get one. It can be purchased at Grand Canyon and will probably apply to you access fee at the same time.

The sites vary in size - some will accommodate your 5vr with ease, others will be snug, to say the least. It's been five years since we were there so I no longer recall our site number, but on pulling out we gently rubbed a tree with the street side rear corner of our TT - it was that tight. Our total overall length was just under 50'. We loved it at Mather - one of the few times we camped w/o hookups.
