  • I have been looking into some of this recently and will add:

When fishing from a boat, a license from PA or OH is accepted on the entire lake, whether in OH or PA. But when fishing from shore, you must have a license from the particular state in which that section is located. I believe the same is true with boat licenses (we use an unpowered canoe)

I heard there is really good fishing there, ducks walk on the backs of fishes near the hatchery in Linesville, but couldn't find anything about fishing near the hatchery or town?

I'd also be interested in a nice park to satisfy the family from the camping side, yet allow us all to fish fairly close to camp.

Edit: Link to PA DCNR State Parks for Pymatuning: http://www.dcnr.state.pa.us/stateparks/findapark/pymatuning/

    Subscribed ;)
  • In Pa there is a campground on the southern end of the lake, it is Jamestown campground. It is a nice place, we have rode our bikes through but not stayed there, it is usually quite busy. They really have nice halloween festivities in the fall and I believe most sites are electric only. There is another in PA which is in Linesville but do not know much about it. The state park campground in Ohio is quite nice also and does have a full hookup area and quite a few activities. We actually just walked through there Saturday since it is next door to our campground, they had a nature talk with a an owl and a falcon or hawk.
  • Pymatuning extends across the state line, looks like is just which side of the line you are looking at.
  • Didn't realize there were two Pymatuning parks, trying to pick a park in Pennsylvania.
  • At pymatuning state park, be sure to see the ducks walking on the fish!!
  • There being a Pymatuming State Park in both Ohio and Pennsylvania, it would be helpful, @OP, to tell us which of the two you wish to compare with the Maurice k Goddard State Park in Pennsylvania.

Beyond that, and Google being your friend, all three have websites, and being state parks, all three sites have good info on them.
