Miami Beach

We're going to the Keys in Feb and want to know if it is worthwhile to go out of our way to stop by Miami Beach for the experience. We've never been and sort of dream of it as beach paradise.

Go or avoid?
  • When we head over to the Bahamas in our boat, we usually spend a night or two at Miami Beach Marina.

The area is very busy. However, the beach is nice.

Since we only take foldable bicycles, we have only explored a few miles from the marina. There are a bunch of restaurants and hotels.

A “beach paradise” is not overlooked by high risers with limited access to the beach. Is it worth driving along A1A at night...maybe. Unfortunately there are not many nice beaches in the keys so if you want to go to the beach do it in Palm Beach County...Lantana, Lake Worth, (Not Palm Beach), and Juno Beach. Juno being the nicest as it has free parking.
  • Yes, you should go for the experience. It's a lot like visiting NYC. A unique and pretty place.

Don't try to get an RV in there though. Easier to park out by the Miami airport and take an Uber in.
  • Also... If you want a nice actual beach do what people in Miami do. Go to Bill Bags State Park. You can take the RV and it's absolutely beautiful. You can park right next to the beach and walk into the teal blue ocean from the RV. Closes at sunset.
  • OP here - thanks much for the replies. :)

We won't be taking an RV - plan on coming in at the south beach area on the A1A, find parking and walk the beach.

It is the experience that is the draw - the crowds of buildings and people. Not sure how many people will be on the beach in Feb though...

Still not sure if we want to go out of our way to do it...
