Michigan to Wyoming Summer 2016

I'm planning a family trip mid summer 2016. Plan is to start in Michigan, head to Wyoming and back. Planning on taking I90 out and I80 back. We are in a 35' class A/V10. Will be an 11 or 12 day vacation for us probably. We are not pulling a car but are planning on renting one when needed.

I'm looking for thoughts on must see items, things to avoid items, etc. Any feedback will be greatly appreciated. Kids are 15, 13 and 9.

Thanks in advance for your time!
  • The old prison in Rawlins, WY is interesting. They have several tours a day. Off I-80. Small towns that don't have airports may not have car rentals.
  • Austin, MN ----Grand opening Spring of 2016 NEW SPAM Museum (I-90)

    Mitchell, SD -----Corn Palace (I-90)

Rapid City, SD and Black Hills Area.........LOTS to SEE (I-90)
Dinosaur Digs in Hill City worth the drive. Devils Tower, Rushmore, Deadwood, Driving around/thru Black hills ETC ETC.

    ALL of Yellowstone

    I-80...can't make any suggestions
    BORING
  • Guessing you are heading to Yellowstone. As previous poster said, stop for a few days in the Black Hills if you haven't been there already.

For the return trip on I-80, I'd probably just spend a couple days driving. That road are pretty boring. Sorry.
  • We enjoyed Custer state park in SD. Also Devils Tower. Lots too see in the Black Hills.
