Military Campgrounds

I subscribe to an RV Newsletter. In the last issue, they said changes have been made so that any veteran with a DD 214 can now use military campgrounds. They didn't give anymore info on it. I Googled it and haven't found any more info on it although the info I came across is at least a year old. Have any otherveterans heard anything about this?
  • This seems to be very common any more: misinformation passed along by people who supposedly know better. From what I've seen, many of the RV newsletters and online RV advice columns are written by anyone who contributes. I doubt if there is any vetting happening now. To paraphrase a president: "Doubt, and verify". :)
  • One troll (new member) kind of stank up the thread. Sorry to see that. And sorry that the thread is so short after nuking his posts and the responses.
  • Many retirees are abusing the 14-day rule and stay at some facilities for several months. They move from one site to another at some bases and the base commander allows it.
  • Not true. You would have to have a VA medical card - a DD-214 alone doesn't give you any privileges. You can find out the requirements for any and all military campgrounds here:

Use is per local commander's option, so it can vary from one installation to another. For the most part, authorized users include Active Duty, National Guard, Reservists, Retired Military, 0-100% DAV, Purple Heart Recipients, Former POW, Veteran Caregivers, DoD Civilians, Sponsored Guests.
