I'm looking at Amps and dealing with battery. Mini split says say 10 amp. Is that 10 amh?
thats 10amps *120v which is 1200w
thats not going to work at 10amps battery power 120w-130w (10*12v)
your looking at amp numbers and not thinking about the voltage
volts*amps=power aka watts
and while if you spend enough money you can get a battery bank and inverter to run the a/c all night
you have to recharge it the next day, that usually means a generator
is involved
because, you want A/C during the day plus you have to put back all the power from the batteries you used last night, so you can use it again tonight
1200w for 8hr ? 9600watt hrs 9600/12v 800amphrs
your solar will have to produce the 9600 you used last night
plus 1200*16hr = 19,200 watt hrs for A/C during the day
total 28,800watt hrs, 28KwHrs during daylight hours
now if you mount enough solar say 800-1000w
you can perhaps power a 600w load directly from the solar during the day, no battery use
all bets are off for Night time use
i know one man that installed a 600w modified window unit in the roof of his 5vr bedroom, ran it from a big battery bank in the bed of his heavy duty tow, for about 4hrs a night
but he then ran the generator in the truck during the day to recharge the batteries
