If you know what you are doing, large vehicles can make the route. But, as in a recent time I was there, pilot cars stop southbound (downhill) traffic until the heavy equipment (Bulldozer on a low boy trailer) with a semi pulling it. The original road was built for heavy/large trucks to haul mining fill. They would coordinate their travels in waves and using radios. As I understand, there was a shack at the top of the Moki Dugway that was manned and was the coordinator for the truck traffic. This is the big issue now, meeting other traffic. I do it on a motorcycle and often I have to stop and wait, due to people crowding the inside (where I am riding uphill) to avoid being close to the edge, I presume.
