- SuzzeeeQ2012ExplorerHouston, we have a problem :(
our little sidekick is having problems with the clutch. We rented a car, got it "fixed" and it's still doing the same thing. Difficult to shift into gear :M husband is taking it in AGAIN for the 3rd time to see what is wrong.
might have to rent a car in Moab :( just to see Monument Valley. - SuzzeeeQ2012Explorergorgeous!
- pnicholsExplorer IISuzzeee,
Here's some more Monument Valley photos from the valley floor scenic loop road to whet your appetite ... if you can get down there in your RV or in one of the tourist jitneys: - SuzzeeeQ2012Explorer

Here's a typical view out our motorhome's window while driving the valley floor loop in Monument Valley: - 2gypsies1Explorer IIIWe've been in the Four Corners area many, many times. The OP wanted boondocking spots for Monument Valley. Gooseneck State Park works well. Lots to keep our interest in the area. Hovenweep, Lowry, Mesa Verde, Anasazi Heritage Center, Canyon de Chelly, Hubble Trading Post, Natural Bridges, Newspaper Rock, etc. Yes, Monument Valley is a small part but an awesome part! To see all of it you need to move around to different areas.

Any places to boondock close to the area?
Actually you guys, you are both wrong. The OP is asking; “Close to the Area”
Nothing was mentioned about the Monument Valley RV not recommended area, by the OP. That was stated in a separate comment.
The lift kits and mechanical stuff, maybe a bit. But still helpful information for anyone thinking of visiting the region.
Seems all interesting to me.
When in doubt, reread the OP's original question.ReneeG wrote:

Maybe one needs to become more familiar with what is often called, The Four Corners Area of Utah. Which Monument Valley is a very small part of. Better yet, take some of the suggestions above and go visit it yourself!
b - pnicholsExplorer III thought were right on track by talking about what kind of an RV it takes to comfortably tour Monument Valley the real way ... on the "not recommended for RVs" valley floor scenic loop road? :B
