If you really want to get away from it all, there is Seboomook up at the north end.  I was there probably about 15 years ago and really enjoyed it.  You have to travel up a dirt road that is owned by the paper mill company.  At that time it was dusty and rough.  But - moose, loons, starry skies, a beautiful river nearby, and the lake.  Not all of the amenities but a real slice of Maine.
