I suggest that you take I-40 into NM and head north on US285 to Santa Fe.
Then US84 to Pagosa Springs and head west to Durango.
Take the Million Dollar Highway N to Ridgway, then turn west on hwy 62.
The mountains are spectacular along this route.
If you like this scenery and want a bit more, circle down into Telluride.
Then head NW on hwy 145, then hwy 90, into Utah (becomes hwy 46).
Enjoy Canyonlands and Arches.
Take I-70 west to Hwy 28 N until you join up with I-15 N.
Head north to the Tetons & Yellowstone.
Then loop back S a bit to pick up I-84 and head into Oregon.
Consider a detour to Wallowa Lake State Park and maybe Hell's Canyon.
Enjoy the Columbia River gorge.
If you have time, sidetrack down the Oregon coast a ways before heading to your new home in Washington.
