One other thing, regarding your time in the Black Hills. If you're into hiking at all, a "must do" is the hike up to Harney Peak, the highest point in SD. The views up there are truly amazing and it's not all that difficult a hike. But it will likely be a full day hike, so if you do it, plan accordingly.
