for your South Dakota plans:
Stay at Custer State Park. It is a very nice park with free range bison and other animals.
CAUTION: There are some roads in SD that RVs should not attempt to travel. I personaly talked to some one who sheared the awnings off of both sides of his class A. Check out this thread for a good example of what I am talking about.
While you are there you should see:
Wind Cave National Park
of course Mount Rushmore
Other things with in driving distance:
Crazy Horse Memorial
SD Air and Space Museum
If you pass it on the way you should stop at the Mitchell Corn Palace
