Forgot to mention that the kids will each get to DC in 8th grade as a field trip. When we go to New York, we plan on doing the statue of liberty etc. Didn't think of Fort Ticonderoga and our 9 year old LOVES military forts! Are there any others that are must sees? I plan on going to Chickamauga when we visit the Smokies as well.
Also, we live so close to Cedar Point that we can go on a weekend. And my kids actually like the NP.
I'd love to go to Bryce and Grand Canyon, but not sure. 2000 miles one way and we only get a max of 2 weeks off of work at a time. To get 1 week down there, it's 3 days driving there and 3 back with 700 miles each day! Makes the vacation sound miserable, actually.
