I've been to Myrtle Beach many times, but it was several years ago when I was still working. 8 to 12 of us used to drive down to play golf for a week, but we stayed in hotels that offered golf packages. I've been back once on my own since then and stayed at Willow Tree. Its off the beach, not nearly as busy, and close to Calabash Style seafood (breaded in cornmeal and deep fried) over the border in NC and Chuck's steakhouse in North MB. Chuck's was always our final dinner before heading north. Good steaks and there was a fishbowl full of free golf tees imprinted with "Chuck's Steakhouse" at the door on the way out. I still have a few. Their baked French onion soup with melted mozzarella cheese is a treat.
If you go, the beach at the north end is wider and not nearly as crowded.
