National Park Vandal

Anyone know Casey Nocket? The feds are looking for her.

From Modern Hiker;

Apparently she is a New Yorker who went on a great western adventure this summer. She considers herself an artist and was having such a great time she decided to vandalize many of OUR National Parks.

Personally I wish that I would have met her on the trail while she was practicing her 'art'.

If you want to search the net, you will find a huge amount of information. Here are a couple pages to get you up to speed on the subject.

  • It irritates me to no end that she gets labeled as an 'artist' instead of a CRIMINAL. An 'instagram artist'? Please...
  • Hard to believe someone could be so stupid. Akin to a bank robber taking a selfie of the teller handing him the money from the vault and posting it to his facebook page. At least her trial should be short and sweet.
  • As my dear dad said to me when I was but a young lad, wondering why he wouldn't let me carve my initials on trees, fence posts, whatever, "Fool's names and fool's faces always appear in public places".

    Always stuck with me for some reason...

    I hope that someone does prosecute her. What an "obliviot".
  • Unbelievable! When I first looked at some of the pictures, I thought that it was chalk, and would wash off....nope, not according to the articles. She's using acrylic paints!

    Sand paper would be to easy for her....I'd rather see her try and scrub it off bare handed....wear some skin off!

    I've spend time as a Boy Scout Leader, and we teach the boys that they should appreciate the places they go, and leave them in better shape than they were when they arrived. We always bring some trash bags with us, and would end up carrying out other people's trash.
    We leave with what we brought in, with memories, and photographs of wonderful times. We don't leave anything, except maybe some footprints, and try to avoid that!

    Painting these wonderful places is insane, and I that they catch her, and make an example of her!
  • .....And when the Native Americans did it, it was considered historical and worth saving.
  • Will she ever be prosecuted? doubtful. I would sentence her to cleaning it off with sand paper and banishing her from parks. That is why I am not a judge. LOL
  • The really humorous part is that she was stupid enough to post pictures on the net of herself in the act.

    I love it when criminals display the evidence of their criminal acts, it makes it so much easier to prosecute.
