We are hoping to stay in the area next month. I have done a search in here and research and there are a lot to choose from. We do want full hook ups (at the least water and electric) and kid friendly and be close to the bridge itself. Between 2 campgrounds.. Yogi bear at natural bridge and the koa in Lexington. Any opinions? I see a train track on the other side of the James river at yogi. Anyone know if this is active and loud? We also want as many trees as possible. Thx

Both are nice. KOA is right off I-81 whereas Yogi is about 6 miles. Yogi will have more to do but they nickel and dime you. for kids in summer i would say Yogi .

I have stayed in both parks and the KOA is close sites and you are on top of your neighbor. The Yogi jelleystone has lots of trees and the spaces seem to be a bit further apart. Still can see your neighbor but it is much nicer than the KOA.

We stayed in one of their cabins at Yogi and liked it quite a bit. The only complaint about the water slides was they were very slow and you stuck to them..... Can't vouch for the KOA. It has been about 3 years since we've been though.

I will concede that if you plan to stay in the park, with kids, then Yogi
but if you plan to use the park as base while checking out the area, I stand with my original recommendation of KOA. (BTW< check out the zoo and animal parks in the area)

Depends on how much time you want to spend at each place. You have the bridge, a wax museum, the caverns, a zoo and a drive thru wildlife park. Plus you are 10 miles from historic Lexington VA, two historic colleges, carriage rides, two breweries, and a very neat old town to just walk around in.
I could spend a week, easy.
