NC mountains campsite recommendations
We are new to RV life ( TT ) and are not familiar with NC campgrounds even though we live in NC. We are on the coast and want to plan a trip to the mountains camping in late July or August.
There will be 2 adults, no kids. We would like to be in a open, roomy campground, maybe a state park or national park. Somewhere that is remote enough to enjoy the outdoors, bike rides, hiking, ( fishing would be a nice bonus ). Close enough to a town to go in and shop some, maybe hit a bar on occasion, and go out to eat ( rarely ). A commercial campground would be fine also if it can meet most of the criteria.
Since we are in SE NC on the coast the Southern / Central area of Western NC would be most convenient to get to but other areas, maybe even in SC or Tenn could be an option without being a deal breaker.
We of course would love full hookups but with the parameters I have stated that may not be possible. We have no genny, except an old noisy one that I hate to use, so power is pretty much a necessity unless it is a very short stay somewhere.
Thanks in advance...
