Need Honeymoon Destination help!

My fiancé and I are getting married October 16th. We just purchased a 25ft Summerland that weighs in at 4100lbs. dry. We want to hit some affordable Arkansas Destinations from N. Louisiana but are concerned about climbing hills with our '02 Silverado. Our truck specs at 6100lbs. max tow weight and is at 153k miles. The transmission has never given a moments problem and we don't want our honeymoon to be that first. In tow haul mode, I can keep rpms around 1600 at 55amp and they climb rapidly above that. It has the 3.42:1 Eaton locker which we want to upgrade to 3.37, but that's going to have to wait 'til after the honeymoon.

Long story short, looking for good flat as possible routes to possible destinations in Arkansas or possibly Mississippi or Alabama with some nice rv parks. We'd love to wake to a lake or ocean view with some activities within an hours drive or so. We got the TT in hopes of waking to a 4 star view without the 4 star price, so hopefully we can save some money.
  • I had a Silverado put 200000 miles on it before I donated it to HFH never had any transmission problems, hook up and go and forget it, it will last a long time. enjoy your honeymoon.
  • Thank you all. I'll have some "googling" to do this weekend!
  • Head to NW Arkansas and camp at a COE park around Beaver Lake. From there, you can visit the incredibly romantic Eureka Springs. Take a day trip to Bentonville and visit Crystal Bridges Art Museum. Now I'm not someone who usually frequents art museums, but this one is amazing and best of all, it's free.

To avoid hills (and curves) getting to Beaver Lake, take US 62 in from Rogers/Bentonville.
  • Lake Catherine SP is another nice one in the area. We were there last summer and had a great time.
  • Broken Bow state Park, Oklahoma. I'm not sure if the park itself has RV spots, but look in that area,
  • What I know is that Highway 65 south of Springfield, MO to Little Rock thru the Ozarks is the WORST road we have ever towed on in 13 seasons. At times we were going 30 mph up and around the hills (mountains). Will never drive that stretch again...
  • I kind of figure we will be okay. Just don't want to push it. Really looking at Hot Springs or preferably Lake Ouachita. Elevation of 472ft. at Ouachita, so that shouldn't pull too bad on the old truck.
