Need recommendations for Tampa to Fort Myers

I already checked trip advisor & rvpark reviews. We are looking for people who have actually seen/stayed in some of the parks near the gulf between St Pete's area & Naples on the Gulf.

We don't have reservations since we didn't know that we would be coming south this winter, Now, we are trying to fill Dec, Jan, Feb & March with a couple of different parks in different areas to allow us to see more of Florida & hopefully get a monthly rate. We are over 55 & our rig is a 3-slide 33' fifth wheel under 10 years old if that makes a difference in your recommendation.

We really want full 50 amp hookups & a place with a pool. We don't have any pets or kids (with us).

We are thinking that we will want to start at the southern end & work our way up. Thanks for any advise!

You might try San Carlos RV in Ft. Myers Beach.... that gets you between Tampa and Naples. Has a pool, some sites are waterfront , it's a reasonably short walk to the beach. No problems with your size rig in many of the sites.
  • Florida State Parks Always have walk up spots reserved - not offered for online reservations.

Simply call and ask about availibility. No pools though, but better than nothing.
  • Yes, it's our first time down in the south east, and anywhere east of the Mississippi.

IF we could get lucky, I'd still like your recommendations of where the "best" places you've found are. Basically, I'm hoping for comparisons between places people have stayed and any insight into places we might want to avoid. We are green in this! RV park reviews & trip advisor don't do comparisons between places and that is what I'm hoping for. Thanks!

You're serious, nice places on the water, over 55 foot rig, 50 amp, with pool, Dec-Mar, Florida...

(Rig is 33, people over 55.) But I agree, it's a bit late to start looking.

Fort DeSoto is a beautiful Pinellas County park built on a series of keys on the Gulf - no pool, but beautiful beach. May be booked solid by now but they have some hold-back sites - see website for details.
  • I agree, it's a******shoot now, if you don't have reservations. Lot's of luck.
  • You're serious, nice places on the water, over 55 foot rig, 50 amp, with pool, Dec-Mar, Florida, no reservations, c'mon have you never been to Florida in the Winter? If you don't have a reservation months ahead, the good places are all full, and with a 55 foot rig, you're going to be in some tight places. My suggestion; go online, look for any opening, anywhere, and take it.
