Need your suggestions - w/in a day's drive of NJ

Hi, We are fulltimers, and due to family issues we need to spend the summer in southern NJ. So any thoughts of "things to do" greatly appreciated. BUT, we want to get away from NJ for short (1 we...

I would recommend (to the south) Assateague Island, MD, where you can camp on the beach and among the wild ponies, and deer. To the north if you don't mind approximately an 8hr trip from South Jersey, I would suggest visiting Niagara Falls.
