I will third Assateague Island National Seashore. In addition to the beach, they have canoe/kayak rentals for paddling on the bay. Some nice short trails, but stay on the path as there are ticks. No hookups, so the Summer would likely be hot. We go April/May. There are some sites with electric hookups at the adjacent Assateague State Park. Several private campgrounds within a few miles with FHU.
I will also third the suggestion to go to the Amish area in PA. Lots of campgrounds with FHU east of Lancaster. If you go, make sure you go to the Shady Maple Smorgasbord in East Earl. And go hungry! We like to ride the steam train at the Strasburg Railroad. The Railroad Museum of PA is right across the street.
Another possibility is to go down to Williamsburg in VA. Nearby are Jamestown and the Yorktown Battlefield.
