Need your suggestions - w/in a day's drive of NJ

Hi, We are fulltimers, and due to family issues we need to spend the summer in southern NJ. So any thoughts of "things to do" greatly appreciated. BUT, we want to get away from NJ for short (1 we...

Another suggestion for Lancaster, PA. See the Amish. Eat really well. Just relax. We like Old Mill Stream Campground but there are many to choose from. This is less than a day from NJ.

Also in PA - Gettysburg, Hershey, Philadelphia, Valley Forge.

One day's drive gets you to Washington, D.C.. Stay at Cherry Hill Campground in Maryland with shuttle access to the metro to D.C.. From there also go see Mount Vernon and a number of Civil War sites not far from D.C..
